OUR MISSION IS ...
It’s not about leading people to a building but to a person. It implies that we are intentional guides who know the way because we walk it ourselves. It is the act of "fishing for men."
Scriptural Background:
Matthew 4:19
"Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."
Evangelism without education is incomplete. This part is the "Why" and "How" of the Gospel. Moving to a foundational understanding of grace, sin, and redemption.
Scriptural Background:
Matthew 28:19-20
"...baptizing them... teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you."
This defines our environment. Bible-based:
The Word is our anchor.
Spirit-led:
The Holy Spirit is our power.
Church Family:
Our church isn't just an audience, it’s a kinship where people are grafted in.
Scriptural Background:
Ephesians 2:19
"Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God."
Love brings you in, Hope keeps you standing, Guidance shows you the way, and Encouragement gives you the strength to finish the race.
Scriptural Background:
Ephesians 4:16
From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work."
We extend the Right Hand of Welcome as you become a part of The Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church Family. We invite you to visit and fellowship with us to make Mt. Zion your home.
A church where "God is First, Everybody is Somebody,
and the love of God is spread abroad."
OUR PASTOR
REVEREND CHAVAS BOYD
Reverend Chavas Boyd, one of Augusta, Georgia’s most respected and distinguished citizens. He hails from the exciting metropolis of Louisville, GA. His pursuit of educational excellence began at Augusta University, where he earned both a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration in Management. These academic achievements, impressive in their own right, were only milestones along a greater journey. His dedication to spiritual and professional growth later led him to complete a Master of Divinity with a concentration in Chaplaincy. In 2000, he wholeheartedly answered the call of Matthew 28:19: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” He has lived out this commission faithfully, serving as pastor at churches throughout the CSRA. His heart was captured by the former LaKeisha Beasley, who accepted his proposal of marriage. Together, they share the joy of raising four beautiful daughters: Nyah, Nylah, Nydiah, and Nyeimah. Rev. Boyd’s philosophy of service extends far beyond the pulpit. His commitment to community engagement has led to active involvement in numerous religious and civic organizations. His leadership roles have included serving as Moderator of the Walker Baptist Association; Vice-Moderator and Treasurer of the Noah Ebenezer Baptist Association; board member and Treasurer of the Boggs Rural Life Center; and currently, a member of the Richmond County Board of Zoning Appeals. His unwavering dedication to a Christ combined with his passion for
community leadership and pastoral care guided him to his current role as Pastor of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
There, he eagerly teaches Bible study and boldly proclaims the Word of God.
His mission for our church is clear:
To lead others to Christ, teach the message of salvation, and welcome believers into a loving, hope-filled, Spirit-led Christian family. Under his leadership, Mt. Zion continues to grow with a thriving congregation of baptized believers.
“When I die, bury a picture of my children with me, so I can
show God my Greatest Accomplishments “
